Usual House

If you’re anything like me, you’re constantly thinking of ways to try to spruce up your apartment while, at the same time, having absolutely no money to spruce up your apartment. If you’ve scrolled and scrolled through Craigslist and Kijiji, you’re probably looking for a new place to find that new chair, sofa, table, or whatever else. Here are some other options.

Renaissance - multiple locations

The word renaissance literally means “rebirth” and you can give your apartment a rebirth by picking up some of their super cheap, quality furniture. There are several locations across Montreal, so there’s probably one within a reasonable distance from your place.

Habitat for Humanity - 4399 Notre Dame

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that provides housing to those who need it most. They’ve got a ReStore in Saint Henri that is full of cheap furniture—like sofas, tables, and desks—as well as other super useful items like screws, hinges, and construction items.

Meuble Liquidation - 8755 Langelier

Meuble Liquidation has two Montreal locations, and they sell extremely cheap new furniture if you’re looking to save cash but don’t feel like getting something used.

MTL Trade Hole

The Trade Hole is a Facebook group in which users negotiate trades of their unwanted items for the unwanted items of others. There is a surprising wealth of great stuff on there, but you’ve got to make sure to read and respect the rules of the community so that it can continue to be a great place for people to trade their items.
